This course is aimed at students who speak English as a second or other language, and who want to combine English language tuition with studying Art and Design. The course allows you to explore a range of creative areas, from which you will choose one subject to study at degree level. At the end of the course you will move on to the degree course of your choice, either here at the University of Sunderland or at another university. The course is split into three stages. In the first stage, you will develop a broad understanding of the creative process through short projects in pathways such as: fine art, animation, visual communication, glass and ceramics, 3D design, fashion and textiles, and lens-based media. In the second and third stages you will choose one of these pathways and undertake longer project work. This will allow you to consolidate your learning and to build up a portfolio of work that you can show when you apply for a degree course. During all three stages you will receive tuition in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Our aim is that you will achieve at least an IELTS 6.0, which will allow you to undertake a degree course at an English-speaking university. Scholarships and discounts If you have an IELTS score of 5.5 or above you will receive an excellence scholarship of £850. There is also a £1,500 fee waiver scholarship automatically applied to this programme, so your tuition fee will be reduced by this... [-]
