A RICH HERITAGE

TRAINING THE WORLD’S TOP CHEFS Tante Marie School of Cookery was founded in 1954 by the acclaimed cookery writer Iris Syrett in Woking, Surrey. The school is named after Ann-Marie Taride the author of the 1925 French culinary bible, ‘La Veritable Cuisine de Famille’ – Tante Marie is her pseudonym. In 1967 Tante Marie School of Cookery was building momentum and moved into Woodham House on the Outskirts of Woking. It remained there until January 2015 when Tante Marie Culinary Academy opened its doors to its current position in the centre of Woking – continuing to provide top-class chef training and cookery classes to those passionate about food. students Over 60 years Tante Marie Culinary Academy has achieved an internationally acclaimed reputation for excellence in culinary training. We are focused entirely on teaching practical cooking skills in our supportive and fun cookery school, whilst ensuring our students develop the high levels of skill and discipline required to cook beautiful food to the highest standards.

Our Facilities

Tante Marie Culinary Academy and Restaurant are just a 1-minute walk from Woking train station, just 20 minutes from central London. The Academy’s central, town centre location is within easy reach of London, Heathrow and Gatwick airport. There is extensive parking nearby and many leisure facilities including a cinema, theatre and an array of restaurants and shopping centres.

The Tante Marie 4 Week Essential Skills course is one of the world’s leading cookery courses of this type.

During the course, students will learn a range of essential, culinary skills across several areas of cookery. Students will leave with the ability to cook good food, for all occasions and in any environment.

A Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is also included in this course, together with the CTH Level 2 Award in Culinary Skills qualification.

Run over a full 3 term academic year from September to July, this course is designed for those with little or no previous experience in the kitchen, allowing students to progress within their comfort zone towards a professional culinary qualification.

Intensive Cordon Bleu Diploma

This course is designed for those who have some previous cookery experience. This could be either professional experience or simply cooking at home. Either way, the course progresses at a faster pace than the three term course, and students are expected to be able to tolerate a slightly more pressured and intensive learning environment. [+]

The Tante Marie Intensive Cordon Bleu Diploma is suited to experienced cooks who wish to improve their foundation skills and gain a professional qualification in cookery.

Our Cordon Bleu Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification which has been setting the standards in global culinary training since its creation in 1954. This intensive two-term course covers the same curriculum and awards the same qualification as our three-term course, but is run at a faster pace for more mature students who have some previous cookery experience and are able to respond to the pressures of intensive learning.
