World-leading research

UEA is a pioneering British research university, leading the way in fields as diverse as climate change, international development, food science and much more.

The University is ranked in the top 1% in the world for research excellence (CWTS Leiden Ranking 2016) and 10th in the UK for quality of research (Research Excellence Framework 2014).

During the latest Research Assessment Exercise, over 50% of the University's research activity was deemed to be 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent', and nearly 90% was considered to be of 'international standing'.

You'll experience this breakthrough thinking in all of your classes, giving you the best possible preparation for your future career.

UEA is also part of Norwich Research Park, which has one of Europe's largest single-site concentrations of research in health, food and environmental sciences. It's one of the most cited research centres outside of Oxbridge and London and has won two Nobel Prizes.

The park is also home to a number of science and technology-based businesses. Together, they provide a wealth of opportunities for research and employment for UEA students and graduates.

Learning for the real world

UEA's academic thinking is renowned for its distinctive 'do different' focus. This is reflected in the University's values of social consciousness, global awareness, and mindfulness of the environment and sustainability.

When you study at UEA, you'll be taught by active researchers at the forefront of their disciplines. Many of your teachers advise on real-world policies and will help you to this latest knowledge and thinking in the classroom.

The results of this real-world focus are clear - over 96% of UEA international students are employed in professional or managerial work, or in further study, within six months of graduation.

Your Student Union

Your Student Union organises regular showings of films, fashion shows, and more than 60 musical events held on campus each year. This includes the annual 'Go Global' event that showcases students' different cultures with a variety of foods, dress and customs.

Explore upcoming gigs, club nights, special events and more at the UEA Student Union website, or take a look at big-name bands who have already played on campus at the LCR.

The University also owns a city centre venue called The Waterfront, a live music venue and nightclub that includes three rooms and an eclectic mix of DJs and live bands.

You can get involved with a wide range of student clubs and societies at the University. These include everything from art, ballroom dancing and debating, through to law, languages and photography. Or help produce the student newspaper, magazine, radio show or television channel?

Artistic inspiration, right on your doorstep

UEA's campus is home to the internationally renowned Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.

It offers free entry for inspirational permanent collections that cover over 5,000 years of human creativity, and the prominent museum and art gallery also hosts many major art exhibitions throughout the year.

Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, Francis Bacon, Jacob Epstein, Henry Moore, Alberto Giacometti and Amedeo Modigliani are all represented.

And you can also join an award-winning learning programme of gallery talks, lectures and workshops to further fuel your artistic inspiration.
