About Bradford Dance Centre

Bradford Dance Centre is located in the heart of Bradford city centre. It was established in 2015 to provide a professional, dedicated dance space and creative hub for the people of Bradford and the surrounding areas. Our venue and dance studios will open to the public in August 2015.

The primary aims of the Bradford Dance Centre are to advance, encourage, promote and facilitate learning, education, training and personal development in dance. We are committed to creating opportunities in dance for all members of the community, regardless of age, background, experience or ability. ​Bradford Dance Centre offers a range of courses and professional development opportunities for dance students, professional dance artists and members of the local community.

Bradford Dance Centre is a not-for-profit social enterprise and a registered UK training provider of some of the UK’s most respected awarding bodies.

Bradford Dance Centre is conveniently located near to all the city's amenities and just a short walk from the train and bus stations in Bradford.

Facilities

Bradford Dance Centre has 4,500 square feet of dedicated dance space, with three professional dance studios, changing facilities, a kitchenette, office and meeting room space and a large, open communal reception area, perfect for informal gatherings and networking.

Our dance studios will be available to hire on an hourly basis from September 2015.

Foundation Course in Professional Contemporary Dance (QCF Level 1-4)

Foundation Course in Professional Contemporary Dance (QCF Level 1-4) Dates: Sept 2015 - July 2016 Hours: 18 hours per week Schedule: Thursday & Friday; or Mon & Wed evenings and Saturday Cost: £3,245 Our new foundation course in professional contemporary dance, is an intensive course for students looking for part-time, high-quality practical dance training. The course is delivered either over two full days, or over evenings and weekends, which enables students to continue to work or to undertake further study. This is a practical course, which aims to develop students contemporary dance technique and performance skills. Each week students will participate in 11 practical classes: 6 contemporary technique dance classes; 2 classical ballet technique classes; 2 body conditioning classes (such as pilates or yoga); and 1 creative/choreography class. Each term students will have the opportunity to learn three contemporary dance techniques, such as Graham-based, Cunningham, Horton, Limon and release techniques. Students will have the opportunity to share their learning and perform the work created at the end of each term. There are no formal entrance requirements. Candidates will be expected to have some practical experience in contemporary dance and will be selected based on their commitment and desire to undertake the training, demonstrated on their completed application form. Students may choose to undertake nationally recognised dance qualifications, from a QCF Level 1 Certificate up to QCF Level 4 Diploma (equivalent of the first year of an undergraduate degree). Diploma in Dance Teaching - Children and Young People (QCF Level 6)

Our diploma in dance teaching and learning is a part-time course for dance practitioners wishing to gain a nationally recognised dance teaching qualification for working with children and young people. [+]

Diploma in Dance Teaching - Children and Young People (QCF Level 6) Dates: Sept 2015 - June 2016 Hours: 112 hours over 14 days Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays Cost: £2,465 Our diploma in dance teaching and learning is a part-time course for dance practitioners wishing to gain a nationally recognised dance teaching qualification for working with children and young people. The diploma is a route to Qualified Teacher Learning Skills (QTLS) status. The diploma is suitable for all dancers, practitioners and teachers working with children and young people, whatever their level of teaching experience, training background or style of dance. The diploma is delivered over 7 weekends (14 days) from September 2015 to June 2016, which enables students to continue to work, or undertake further study. The diploma is scheduled to run alongside our foundation course in professional contemporary dance and students may choose to undertake both qualifications. The Diploma is a vocational qualification which consists of four individual units of study: Teaching and Learning in Dance; Professional Knowledge of Dance Teaching; Critical Reflection on Dance Teaching; and Dance Teaching in Practice. For each unit, candidates must successfully demonstrate their knowledge of the learning outcomes in relation to their own practice and style of dance (or a style of dance they are interested in).
