Established in 1999, we have over 16 years’extensive experience in helping international students successfully progress to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. We are now the largest independent Foundation College in Ireland.

DIFC is Ireland’s exclusive delivery centre for NCUK International Foundation Year and Pre-Masters programmes. These programmes were designed by leading universities in the UK specifically for international students as an alternative to A Levels and are quality assured to adhere to the highest academic standards.

Why Study a Foundation Programme?

Students from many non-EU countries need to complete a ‘bridging course’ before they can enter leading universities in Ireland, the UK or elsewhere. Other students wish to undertake part of their international degree course in their home country.

Successful completion of NCUK courses offered by DIFC guarantees students a place on a degree course in a wide variety of subjects. This means that 100% of students who successfully pass the programme will achieve a University placement.

Pre-foundation academic English + Foundation packages Who is this package aimed at? Students who want to join a Foundation Course at DIFC but do not have the required English level – 5.0 IELTS DIFC offer students the opportunity to improve their English and then progress onto a foundation course once they have reached the minimum English entry requirements. We offer Pre-Foundation English programmes for 3 months or 6 months, depending on your current English level. End-of-Course Examinations When you are granted your visa to study with us in Ireland, there are certain conditions which both you and DIFC must fulfil. If you join the Pre-Foundation English programme, the following will apply: You will be required to take an external examination, depending on your study plan. DIFC will book an exam for you when you arrive. The exam will be booked for as close to the end of your course as possible. When you arrive, you and your course leader must sign a document stating that you understand that the exam is mandatory and that you agree to sit the exam. The document also states that DIFC agrees to book an appropriate exam for the student. The Pre-Masters Programme is designed to help you develop vital English language and academic skills needed to succeed in your postgraduate studies. The NCUK Pre-Masters (Graduate Diploma) is a modular course consisting of a core element and a subject theme. The core element includes modules in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Learning Skills including Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) and Research Methodology including project planning. Students following the longer duration programmes also undertake an individual research project and complete a substantial dissertation. Two streams are currently offered for the subject modules: Management and Life Sciences - however students looking to study an Engineering related Masters can also progress to a relevant Masters degree from this programme. NCUK Course Entry Requirements You must have completed a degree course (for placement in Ireland or the UK) or three year diploma (for placement in the UK only) witha good GPA. The required English level is equivalent to 5.0 IELTS. What subjects will I study?
