Introduction

EIPM at a Glance

EIPM was created in December 1990 by top leading companies - Alcatel, Aérospatiale, Amae, Bull, Cerestar (Ferruzzi), Herberts (Hoechst), Nokia, Pechiney, Philips, Renault - and sponsored by the European Commission, the Rhône Alpes Region and the Haute Savoie department to create an European Executive Education and Training Center in Purchasing Education.

Today through its different programmes, the EIPM trains and educates each year more than 4000 purchasing professionals worldwide in 9 different languages in Europe and through its branches in partnership.

EIPM was the first to:

  • Offer an Executive MBA that recognised the strategic dimension of the Purchasing function
  • Develop tools for professionals based on applied research
  • Establish a shared vision across Europe for the Purchasing function
  • Coin the phrase ‘Upstream Purchasing Strategy’
  • Respond to the needs of the professions by providing worldwide training solutions
  • Offer a European staged certification programme for purchasing professionals.

Standing out from the crowd The EIPM Certification Programmes enable purchasing professionals to keep their knowledge and skills relevant, applicable and competitive, whilst being an industry standard that is recognised worldwide. The courses are flexible and structured around 3 weeks of face-to-face sessions combined with up-front preparation and project implementation. Professional Buyers Objective The Certification Programme for Buyers prepares participants to take charge of a purchasing portfolio. The training covers the fundamentals of the purchasing function, such as understanding the purchasing process, analysis of a portfolio, segmentation, understanding how to apply the best practices and building a purchasing strategy. Four Weeks of Purchasing Immersion The EIPM Summer School is a concise executive programme in Purchasing and Supply Management offered at the Archamps Campus. The programme encourages an action learning philosophy, as participants are expected to work on real life strategic challenges. It consists of the 4 specialisation modules from the EIPM Executive MBA programme and has a convenient schedule over the summer months, presented in two blocks of two weeks each. It is delivered through June to September. Starting from the alignment between the business and purchasing strategy, it explores how value can be created together with suppliers, how external innovation can be identified and used and how leading global supply chains operate. Advanced negotiation and communication practices are also part of the curriculum. Target Group The programme is designed for purchasing and supply management executives, senior managers, high potential purchasing professionals or upper management moving to a purchasing role.
