The Copenhagen Academy of Fashion Design is an internationally renowned private Academy founded in 1983. Since the beginning, the Academy has educated clothing-designers on a high level of craftsmanship and with a strong visual expression. Our Alumni are represented, at all levels in the fashion business, both nationally and internationally. The Academy has applicants from all over the world, in the year 2016-17, 16 different nationalities are receiving their education and we, therefore, teach in both Danish and English. We consider it of the greatest importance in an evermore globalized world, that contact and cultural exchange happens across the different classes and levels. It is the continued mission of the Academy, to further develop the craftsmanship and the program, so they always meet the demands of the fashion business towards young and upcoming designers. Are you considering applying and would like to visit the Academy, then we recommend that you make an appointment. The Academy is housed in old warehouse "Hans Just" in Østerbro. The bright, airy and open work-room on 370sqm is ideal for the cultural exchange happening across the different classes and levels. Due to the many nationalities attending, all teachers are at least bi-lingual and the course is taught simultaneously in Danish and English. (English being the foremost technical language in the Garment industry) Sewing machines, overlocks and an industrial machine for leather are at the disposal of the students and we naturally work on Stockmann Mannequins Wifi is at hand and it is also used during teaching sessions. The Academy is approved for the State Grant (SU) by the Danish state. International students are requested first to apply in their home-countries, before doing it in Denmark.
