School Description

Gastronomy offers a wide array of professions, and all students who want to direct their studies towards the culinary arts, or want to build on their existing knowledge alongside exceptional mentors with a wealth of work experience and theoretical knowledge are welcome at Kul IN.

Kul IN intends to give students a wide array of culinary knowledge, the food industry, and gastronomy. To ensure that our students have perfected all the necessary skills for working in a quality restaurant, we begin by covering important foundations that all students, regardless of their educational background, need to pass.

As part of this program, students learn about thermal and mechanical food processing, recognizing quality ingredients, coupling seasonings with ingredients, creating quality restaurant menus, arranging and serving dishes, professional cooking standards, food storage, food portions, and the history of gastronomy.

Vision

Kul IN’s goal is to develop an educational center with a focus on creativity, research, and the promotion of modern cuisine and culinary technologies. Through the education of professional cooks, confectioners, and professionals in other branches of gastronomy. We are building an Institute which is a unique place for chefs, restaurant owners, managers, and culinary media to train and refresh their knowledge, and to learn about what is new in the world of food, drinksand desserts.

In order to offer our students a complete experience when studying Italian gastronomy and cuisine, we’ve created joint programs with the world renowned culinary school ALMA, La Scuola Internazionale di Cucina Italiana.

Culinary Institute Kul IN and ALMA La Scuola Internazionale di Cucina Italiana have successfully developed two joint programs: “Professional Cook of Italian Cuisine” and “Professional Pastry Chef of Italian Desserts.” Through intensive and dynamic studies, which take place partly in Sisak and partly in Colorno, Italy, students have the opportunity to gain invaluable international experience and become truly immersed in the culture that has shaped this world famous cuisine. In addition to hours of hands-on training, field trips, and practicums, students will also be assigned a several-month long internship where they will gain experience working in elite restaurants and pastry shops. Networking opportunities are endless and open doors to potential jobs as students prove themselves as capable cooks in the real world of high-end gastronomy.

Professional Pastry and Confections

Campus Full time 2 months May 2017 Croatia Sisak

This intensive two-month course in modern pastry and confections is designed to give students a firm foundation and advanced techniques for aspiring pastry chefs. Small class sizes allow our experienced professor-chefs to give students lots of one-on-one attention and individual feedback. Students spend 80% of class time getting practical hands-on experience in the kitchen. The course covers bakery and confectionary products, sweet and savory pastries, as well as basic Italian and French pastries. In addition, students are introduced to wine pairing and business management, and they can choose to do an internship in an elite restaurant, hotel, or pastry shop. [+]

The Catering and Buffet program is aimed at individuals who wish to broaden their knowledge and focus their professional career in the direction of catering and buffet. Students spend 80% of class time in the kitchen, and culinary practicums are designed to give students plenty of hands-on experience with meats, shellfish, pastas, pastries, and more. In addition, students are introduced to wine tasting and pairing, as well as business and restaurant management. Course: Culinary Arts During this two-month program, participants will receive a broad and intense education in professional cooking and pastry making. The dynamic course schedule is designed for people wishing to improve their culinary skills or who are directing themselves towards a career in professional gastronomy. The program takes a hands-on approach to cooking technique, with daily cooking labs supplementing lessons, as well as several field trips to local food production centers and guest lectures from visiting Croatian and international chefs. Students will be provided with the basic knowledge required to begin working in a culinary profession. Students will learn about thermal and mechanical food processing, identifying ingredient quality, coupling seasonings, knife work, creating quality restaurant menus, arranging and serving dishes, professional cooking standards, food portions, food preservation, and the history of gastronomy. Kul IN Language Academy Study and Experience: English This two-month course is a complete package combining intensive English lessons, personalized one-on-one tutoring, and a variety of fieldtrips and activities that will introduce students to Croatian and European culture. Students have the option of adding an English Exam Preparation Course to their study package. Tuition includes housing, lunch on weekdays, and all fieldtrips and activities organized by the school. The course director is from California, and she has been teaching and tutoring English since college. Program Description This course is a complete package combining intensive English lessons, personalized one-on-one tutoring, and a variety of field trips and activities that will introduce students to Croatian and European culture. Students spend the morning studying English grammar and vocabulary in a group setting. Course book lessons, speaking practice, and listening exercises form the core of these classes. Students build a solid language foundation and practice vocabulary that is related to afternoon activities and trips. Along with intensive English lessons, each student receives individual tutoring once a week, during which we will focus on individual challenges. Activities include fun cooking classes in Kul IN’s professional kitchen, movie nights, horseback riding, canoeing, and museum visits.
