Whistler Adventure School offers courses to career-driven students across six main disciplines. Whistler Adventure School (WAS) is a career training school offering an Adventure Tourism program, Marketing & Media Manager program, Retail & Manufacturing Manager program and three Guide Training Programs. The Adventure Tourism equips students with the skills and tools across all the guiding disciplines. The Marketing & Media Manager program features courses in photography, photo editing, videography, video editing, internet marketing & social media, marketing strategy and event planning. The Retail and Manufacturing Manager program instructs students in areas such as ski & snowboard manufacturing, ski & snowboard boot fitting, ski & snowboard tuning and bicycle mechanic, granting the skills necessary to build a career in Whistler. The WAS Guide Training Programs are designed to help students specialize in one discipline of ski, rock or alpine guiding as they prepare for professional examinations.

WAS is located within minutes from the base of both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, a world-class ski resort that hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. Program Highlights The WAS Alpine Guide Training Program is designed to allow students to specialize in one field of guiding. The Alpine Guide Training program allow students to focus and prepare for entry into examination at the ACMG level. Students applying to this program must pass a WAS skills test and submit a physical & skills resume. This program is a sequential set of courses designed to develop the students ability, skills and decision making while working towards becoming an Alpine guide. Students will need to practice after each course and build a resume of alpine trips and back country experiences. Course Breakdown: Course hours vary from 15 hours to 67.5 hours per course plus a 45 hour co-op work placement. Location: On Campus & Sea to Sky mountains. The WAS Ski (and Snowboarding) Guide Training Program is designed to allow students to specialize in one field of guiding. The Ski Guide Training program allows students to focus and prepare for entry into examination at the ACMG level. The students will be taught by qualified guides from the basic skills through to multi-night trips in technical alpine terrain. Students applying to this program must pass a WAS skills test and submit a skills resume including the ability to link turns on a blue run, ski varied off-piste snow conditions in control and know how to switch between uphill and downhill mode.
