We’re in the business of turning fashion dreams into a reality. Offering an array of continuing education fashion design courses as well as production services for designers and brands, we are your one-stop-shop for all of your production and educational needs.

The Cutting Room, owned by apparel and production expert, Liza Deyrmenjian, was born in New York City and is the result of 25 years in the fashion and apparel industry.

The Cutting Room is where it all happens—ideation and design, pattern making, sourcing, sampling, and production. It is also where beginners and seasoned designers alike come together to better their skills and learn new ones with The Cutting Room’s Fashion Design and Merchandising Academy—The Cut.

With one foot in Vancouver and the other in New York City, The Cutting Room supports established fashion and lifestyle brands, coaches up-starts, and teaches the next generation of makers and doers through The Cut’s array of fashion design courses.

Liza Deyrmenjian, owner of The Cutting Room, is an established and respected leader in apparel design and production and has a talent for designing businesses that win. She loves efficiency as much as aesthetic, margin as much as making it right, and sustainability as much as style. Her balanced approach steers big brands in healthy new directions and provides up-starts with a solid foundation to launch from. She is the founder of FBA360, a New York-based fashion-business coaching firm. Liza knows how to get things done and make things happen.

During this 2-day Grading Gerber workshop, students acquire the knowledge to understand the functions of Gerber such as grading, graphing, creating tables, creating patterns and digitizing. [+]

During this 2-day Grading Gerber workshop, students acquire the knowledge to understand the functions of Gerber such as grading, graphing, creating tables, creating patterns and digitizing. Students will learn how to:

Join Liza Deyrmenjian, fashion industry expert and owner of The Cutting Room and FBA360, on a guided sourcing tour through some of New York City’s most prominent garment production factories. Tour participants will receive the opportunity to meet and speak with factories that specialize in wovens, knits, bathing suits, leather accessories, purses, bags, and belts.

In these hands-on workshops, students will be immersed in all facets of the fashion business. In readings, lectures and class discussions, students are taught by industry professionals in small group settings, receiving first-class learning in a real-life business environment, using state of the art digital platforms as well as hands-on hard skill applications.

Each class comprises of two levels at 16 hours per week, for a total of 32 hours. Pre-requisites for each class are outlined in each specific course.
