Universitas Warmadewa, abbreviated as UNWAR, is ranked among the best private universities in Indonesia. It was founded on 17 July 1984. The university has 7 faculties and 19 study programs. The Governor of Bali, Ida Bagus Mantra, proposed its name to honour a former king of Bali, Sri Kesari Warmadewa. The big and modern campus area and its several faculties accommodate students from all around the world.
On November 12, 1983, during the Regional Work Meeting of Korpri Bali in Kertasabha Denpasar, Drs. Putu Kuna Winaya, the Chairman of the Korpri Unit at Udayana University, proposed the establishment of Korpri University, based on the principle of “affordable education with guaranteed quality.” This proposal was intended to accommodate the community's aspirations that public universities had not yet met. After obtaining permission from the Central Korpri, the Chairman of the Bali Korpri (Drs. Sembah Subhakti) and the Chairman of the Korpri Unit at Udayana University (Drs. Putu Kuna Winaya) agreed to establish Korpri University.
In June 1984, the proposal for the establishment of Korpri University was prepared, involving elements of Korpri from Udayana University and the Regional Government, and the Founding Board was established, consisting of Drs. Sembah Subhakti, Drs. Putu Kuna Winaya, I Ketut Widjana, SH, and I Wayan Waya, SH.
Warmadewa University’s Graduate Program (PPs-Unwar) was established based on the University’s Statute with the Rector’s Decree No. 630/Unwar/KP-02/2012, dated May 31, 2012. The Master of Management program marked the beginning of graduate-level education at Warmadewa University with the issuance of the Indonesian Minister of National Education Decree No. 93/E/O/2011 dated May 4, 2011, authorizing the Master of Management program (S-2). As of now, the Graduate Program offers seven master’s programs and one doctoral program.
The development of the Vocational Program at Warmadewa University began in 2017, following the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation No. 51 of 2018 and in line with the objectives outlined in the University’s Strategic Plan for 2015-2019. The Vocational Education Program aims to support the government’s educational goals by providing high-quality, job-ready human resources.
