What we offer in our Counselling Skills program

We offer a self-paced Counselling Skills Diploma program:

It can be started at any time throughout the year.

Approved by the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists (ACCT) up to the Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) level.

Duration of 8 months and 770 hours, equivalent to 24 hours of academic engagement per week.

Incorporates 15 in-depth courses, each requiring approximately 30 hours of study.

Balances self-guided studies with 200 hours of direct client contact sessions for a comprehensive learning experience.

Includes 32 hours of live group supervision via Zoom and 8 hours of one-on-one supervision as needed.

The program is facilitated on Moodle, a widely trusted learning platform.

Beyond the curriculum, the program is a community for self-discovery, improving counselling skills, and sharing best practices in online education.

Orca Institute caters to post-secondary students seeking to expand their academic pursuits. We offer a comprehensive, mostly self-paced Counselling Skills Diploma program: It can be started at any time during the year. Approved by the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists (ACCT) up to the Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) level. Duration of 8 months and 770 hours, completed online at a personal pace. The program fee is CAD$8700.00, with interest-free payment plans. The additional cost for books is CAD$900.00. The institute has transitioned to Moodle, a trusted learning platform used by top institutions worldwide.

The Student has read and understood the Student Contract signed during registration. 19 years or older (Photo ID must be submitted) Grade 12 English (transcript or certificate must be submitted) or a school transcript showing successful completion of a course(s) taught in the English language. The course must be at least 1 year in length.

In lieu of the above language requirements, applicants must take the English language proficiency test by Transparent Language which tests English language proficiency in grammar, Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension. The student must receive a passing mark (80%) and submit proof of that mark to the school.

In addition, the applicant must complete an interview with a school official to access English comprehension and the ability to complete this program. Documentation showing that the student has met the above requirements will be recorded in the Student Record.

Admissions Option 2

Government Financial assistance is available for eligible students who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants through the Canadian and provincial government student loan programs. Apply to Student Aid BC, or go to the Student Aid website for your Province or territory.

Métis Employment Services, Work BC, and other similar groups have funded our students. Please inquire to your group to see if we are covered by them.

Curriculum

The program fee is $8700.00, with interest-free payment plans available. Books are an additional $900.00. Government Financial assistance is available for eligible students who are Canadian citizens or landed Immigrants.

We are excited to announce our collaboration with Opening to Grace Training, which allows OTG graduates to receive training recognition and course exemptions towards our Counselling program.
