Introduction
Make a career out of your love for both people and animals with the Veterinary Medical Receptionists (VMR) Certificate program. Provide client care as the “face of the practice” with this fast-paced program.
By learning a variety of office administration, customer service, and veterinary medicine skills from trained Registered Veterinary Technician instructors, you will gain all the skills you need to be an asset to any veterinary team. During the program, you will be able to explain veterinary procedures, complete veterinary pharmaceutical procedures, and explain infectious diseases and prevention. You will also learn alongside Animal Health Technology and Veterinary Technical Assistant students in the animal hospital, providing a real industry environment scenario.
Work Integrated Learning: As part of the Veterinary Medical Receptionist program, you will complete a three-week industry practicum, working directly with industry professionals.
Delivery Methods
On-Campus Delivery: This eight-month certificate program begins in September and culminates with a three-week industry practicum. During their studies, VMR students are also responsible for creating promotional items, organizing and booking adoption appointments, and responding to phone inquiries for our “Adopt a Pet” program (find us on Facebook). To understand the importance of the Veterinary Medical Receptionist role we recommend you seek a job shadowing opportunity at your local veterinary clinic.
Online Delivery: Complete the Veterinary Medical Receptionist program from home! The online delivery method will allow students to complete distance delivery via asynchronous learning. Running from September to August, students will gain their certificate through a combination of distance learning and a three-week Industry Practicum. Students completing the online delivery method can expect to spend a minimum of 15-20 hours per week per course. Please be aware that this is a Full-time program with students completing the same course content as the on-campus students. Courses are set up in an online independent learning format. Courses have prescribed timelines for the completion of assignments and the course material within designated semester dates. Support will be available from the online instructors and technical support is provided by IT Support.
