Course

Auto Body and Collision Technicians repair and restore damaged motor vehicles, assess body damage and develop repair estimates and repair plans. As of April 1, 2021, apprentices who complete the Automotive Collision and Refinishing common core Level 1 can enter Level 2 of of the Auto Body and Collision Technician Apprenticeship program and/or Level 2 of the Automotive Refinishing Technician Apprenticeship program.

Automotive Glass Technicians remove, install, repair and generally service all types of stationary and movable glass in motor vehicles and associated equipment. The Automotive Glass Technician Apprenticeship program provides comprehensive training for individuals interested in pursuing a career in automotive glass repair and replacement.

The Automotive Refinishing Prep Technician Apprenticeship program is designed to train individuals in the skills and techniques required to prepare vehicles for refinishing, including surface preparation, masking, priming, and detailing. Apprentices in this program learn to work with a variety of materials and equipment to ensure the quality and durability of automotive finishes.

Automotive Refinishing Technicians work on the surfaces of motor vehicles, primarily restoring vehicle finishes once body work has been completed. As of April 1, 2021, apprentices who complete Automotive Collision and Refinishing common core Level 1 can enter Level 2 of the Automotive Refinishing Technician Apprenticeship.

Automotive Service Technicians possess a full range of knowledge and abilities required to perform preventative maintenance, diagnose problems and repair vehicle systems including engines, vehicle management, hybrids, steering, braking, tires, wheels, drivetrains, suspension, electrical, electronics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), restraints, trim and accessories of automotive vehicle and light trucks with a gross vehicle weight less than 5,500 kg.

Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship

In the program Baker Apprenticeship, Bakers prepare doughs, batters and other ingredients and then produce items such as bread, buns, cakes, pies, cookies and other baked goods. The Baking and Pastry Arts Program equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the baking industry. Participants learn to prepare doughs, batters, and other ingredients, and to produce a wide variety of baked goods, including bread, buns, cakes, pies, cookies, and more.

Baker Apprenticeship

Carpenters build and repair a vast array of structures made of wood, wood-substitutes and other materials. They assemble and erect forms for concrete, wood and metal frame construction and use plans and instruments to prepare for excavating and shoring. Structural Building and Repair: from this Program Carpenter Apprenticeship Students learn to construct and repair a range of structures, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and other wood-based constructions.

This program Certifcate in Automotive Service Technician Foundation teaches participants how to examine, test and repairs parts and systems of cars and trucks. Using computerized equipment, students will learn to diagnose various issues and fix problems that arise. Students will participate in a work placement, that will introduce students to real workplace environments, as well as provide perspectives to industry standards and expectations.

The Accessible Education Certificate program supports level two students to achieve their educational and personal development goals. This program is for students who wish to work on academic skills and independent living skills. Program content includes courses which focus on literacy and numeracy, interpersonal and self-management skills, creativity and self-expression, workplace awareness, and skills for increasing independence.

In this program students learn a variety of skills from word processing, spreadsheets, database, desktop publishing, computerized accounting, and presentation software. As a graduate of this program, you will be equipped with the business, communication, and technical skills required by today’s employers. The Administrative Assistant Certificate program is a 1,098 hour (36.6 week) certificate program which includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, computerized accounting, and presentation software. Students also learn business communications, business math, office procedures, effective job search techniques, accounting, and self-management skills. There is a three-week practicum component to this certificate.

Learn the necessary skills to seek employment in the aircraft maintenance trade, specific to the structure of aircraft. Geared towards those with little or no previous experience in the field, this program equips participants to apprentice as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. The program consists of 37 weeks (1062 hours) of full-time studies.

This certificate provides a foundational introduction to accounting for persons interested in entry-level accounting employment or accounting for their own business. These courses also set up the participant for future computer-based accounting classes. This introductory program is designed for persons seeking entry-level employment in accounting, for those wishing to maintain a set of books for a small business, or for those wanting an understanding of basic accounting principles before studying computer-based accounting systems. The two courses in the program total 66 hours of instruction, and are supplemented by individual assignments requiring the application of material presented in class sessions.

Interested in learning the complete bookkeeping cycle? This course covers the basics of bookkeeping, from spreadsheets to payroll and computerized accounting programs. The 123-hour Bookkeeping Certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills of the complete bookkeeping cycle, from how to set up a company through the full year's business cycle for computerized accounting systems. In this certificate, students will learn a computerized accounting program, apply their knowledge to spreadsheets, plus gain an indepth understanding of payroll administration.

This advanced level of Adult Special Education prepares students for additional education and careers. This certificate program supports students to achieve their own, educational, vocational, and personal development goals. The educational focus is on developing student success skills and work readiness skills. Employment awareness and the development of appropriate workplace attitudes, values and behaviours are a focus of this program as well. All students will benefit in personal development through participation in course work which develops communication, assertiveness, stress management, and conflict resolution skills. Students will also participate in employment exploration and work experience in the community, facilitated by the ASE liaison. BEST is a 10-month program.

The Business Administration Certificate program provides students with the opportunity to study in a variety of areas within the business world, including Accounting, Financial Services, Human Resources Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management and Management and Marketing. Designed to give students a broad scope of classwork and hands-on experience, this 30-credit certificate encourages students to gain a diverse business foundation.

This program Certificate in Carpenter Foundation introduces students to all aspects of the construction trade including the use of hand tools, portable power tools and residential wood-frame projects. This 30-week (900 hours) program provides students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to seek employment as an apprentice carpenter in the construction industry.

Start the foundational journey of becoming a certified carpenter or joiner (cabinet maker). Courses teach students about furniture, finishes, buildings and structures. Students enrolled in the 30-week (900 hours) Carpenter and Joiner Foundation program will learn the skills required to seek employment in the trades of carpentry and joinery.

Offered in partnership with Okanagan Mountain Helicopters, this one-year program is in conjunction with Transport Canada’s guidelines/examinations and incorporates Business Administration courses that are applicable to the commercial helicopter industry. The Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate (CHPC) will complement the objectives of the Commercial Aviation program, allowing students from both airplane and helicopter courses to share common ground school courses. This will educate students with the unique challenges of operating helicopters in Canada and internationally.

This program is designed for students with prior office administration experience or training who wish to attain the skills required to work in a medical or allied health office as a medical administrative assistant. Work as an assistant in hospital departments, working to admit, diagnostically image and aid outpatient clinics or choose to work in a medical general practitioner or special office within a medical clinic.

This entry-level program is for students interested in working business offices. Learn about business communications, computer essentials, office procedures, business math, word processing, spreadsheets and database software. Graduates are able to start a career as a receptionist or office assistant and can take further courses to specialize in areas of interest.

The Office Management certificate provides graduates of applied business technology and administrative assistant programs with a broad business base that emphasizes managerial aspects of secretarial work. Students will be prepared to write the proficiency exams leading to the Certified Professional Secretary designation. Courses leading to this credential will be offered during the day and evening. Some courses are available by distance education.

Learn the necessary skills to find employment in the industry as an apprentice plumber, steamfitter/pipefitter or sprinkler system installer. Courses include aspects of residential, commercial and industrial piping systems with a focus on developing practical skills. The Plumbing, Steamfitting/Pipefitting, and Sprinkler System Installation Apprenticeship Program is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills to pursue employment as apprentice plumbers, steamfitters/pipefitters, or sprinkler system installers.
