Introduction
Welcome to the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management where we prepare students for management positions in the rapidly growing hospitality and tourism industry. With an academic background tailored to meet industry needs, HRTM students leave campus ready to succeed in the world's greatest industry.
About Us
New Mexico State University offers the state's only certification HRTM. Founded in 1988, the program is now ranked among the top programs in the country. It is home to nearly 300 majors and a diverse student-centered faculty who personally advise students. Work experience and internships open the door for students to enter the work world before graduation. More than $45,000 in scholarships are available annually through the school. Students receive a hands-on restaurant management education in our state-of-the-art commercial food production and service lab. They also receive an interactive learning experience through our technology learning lab.
Requirements at a glance:
- 128 credit hours
- 48 hours at 300 level or above (for students entering the program beginning fall 2007)
- 54 hours at 300 level or above (for students that entered the program prior to fall 2007)
- 400 hours of practical work experience
- 400 hours of Internship (HRTM 408)
