Introduction
LACM offers an Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree in the following programs:
Music Performance Major
- Emphasis in Bass Performance
- Emphasis in Brass & Woodwind Performance
- Emphasis in Drum Performance

- Emphasis in Vocal Performance
Music Production Major
- Emphasis in Music Producing & Recording
- Emphasis in Composing for Visual Media

The Associate of Arts program is full-time Professional Degree that develops relevant skills in instrumental technique, performance, and musicianship (and/or music production) as they relate to contemporary music styles. Upper level courses personalize your experience beyond instrumental training or music production. As a Professional AA Degree, the AA program does not include general education requirements and may not transfer to another institution. However, the six quarter credits will transfer into LACM’s Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Arts program. You can major in Music Performance (with an emphasis in Bass, Brass & Woodwind, Drums, Guitar, or Vocals), Music Production (with an emphasis in Music Producing & Recording or Composing for Visual Media), or Composition (Songwriting).
Admission Requirements
The admissions requirements for the Associate of Arts degree program are the same requirements for those pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
How to Apply for Admission
Applicants who are ready to apply to LACM will need to complete an Admissions Application through DecisionDesk. Applicants will need to request their official high school, GED, or college transcripts from their granting institution and have them sent to LACM. TOEFL Scores, for International Students, will also need to be sent to LACM. All applicants will submit a $50 application fee when the application is complete.
Transfer Credit
We do not accept transfer credit for our Associate of Arts and Diploma programs. However, Bachelor of Music applicants, may transfer in general education credits. LACM will determine the transferability of coursework taken at other institutions and provide transfer credit evaluations for LACM students. Students may be eligible to transfer in 100% of their general education requirements into the Bachelor of Music program.
