Introduction
Therapeutic massage uses your hands to apply various scientific techniques to the soft tissues and muscular structure of the body. A massage therapist is a licensed massage practitioner who has received education and training in therapeutic massage theory and is competent and qualified to practice massage as a therapeutic modality. The IVCC Therapeutic Massage Program instructs in Swedish massage, the most common form of therapeutic massage. Graduates of this program will be eligible for Illinois state licensure.
The Advanced Clinical Certificate is designed for licensed massage therapists to advance their scope of practice to work more closely with healthcare professionals as part of the team or individually.
All graduates will be prepared to sit for the massage licensing exam (MBLEx) to become licensed practising massage professionals.
