Introduction

This two-week course is structured as a painting and artistic drawing atelier, where, under the guidance of professional artists, you will expand on your core drawing and painting skills and experiment more with colors.

Through the use of different mediums, you will learn to capture the human body, paint still life objects, and portray plein air landscape, translating your ideas into painted and drawing compositions.

Classes may take place both in our fully equipped studio as well as outdoors, in the squares and streets of the city.

Schedule

Held from Monday to Friday, on a part-time basis (morning and afternoon) the course has a duration of 60 hours spread over 2 weeks.

Target

This course is suitable for beginners, or those who are more experienced but would like to re-engage with the first principles of drawing and painting. A high school diploma and an upper-intermediate level of English language are necessary in order to be admitted.

Methodology and structure

The course is structured as an experiential workshop and it is characterized by laboratory activities and theoretical insights. Conducted by professional artists in a dedicated environment, the program aims to involve students, with different skills and backgrounds (while respecting the individual specificities), in a perspective of the personal evolution of each.

The course includes strongly structured moments, as well as collective reflections, experiences of phenomenological reading of the painting, leaving ample room for individual creativity. By the end of the course, under the guidance of our teachers, you will develop a series of drawing and painting works that will be exposed during the final exhibition.

The visits to places of artistic and historical interest, such as Basilica of Sant'Abbondio, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (Duomo), Church of San Fedele, Pinacoteca Civica (Como), Isola Comacina, Villa del Balbianello (Lenno), and Santa Tecla and San Giovanni churches (Torno), will serve both as a source of inspiration as well as a cultural enrichment.
