Introduction
Are you interested in the latest technologies and software – and in working within a challenging field that is constantly developing? Earn a master's degree with a unique combination of specialisations: AI and automation. We focus on applied learning, so you’ll get a lot of hands-on work in an industry-like environment in addition to your academic learning. You’ll work in University West’s renowned physical lab. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with industry through real project work. This fully English-taught, two-year programme prepares you for a future career as a researcher or as an automation engineer who implements new concepts in a company.

Your programme combines learning in production technology and computer science. This allows you to build a unique expertise in both AI and automation, entering the job market as an innovative engineer, where you will shape new production systems and products.

Curriculum
We built this programme for electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and computer engineers to become production technology engineers with advanced skills in AI and automation. Your curriculum is designed to meet the demands of industry.
An added advantage of studying at University West is that you will also have easy access to the rich research environment in the PTC and PTW.
You’ll gain practical experience through assignments as well as group and individual projects in close collaboration with corporate leaders in the industry. The entire programme has been built on the strength of a close collaboration between industry and University West. Every aspect is based on the real hiring needs of companies and research facilities in the industry.
The total programme consists of 120 credits in accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

Scholarships and Funding
University West Scholarship Programme
The University West scholarship programme is open for fee-paying students admitted to specified master's programmes. The scholarship will fully or partly cover the tuition fee for the programme (so not costs for travel or living expenses).
Swedish Institute Scholarships
Students admitted to master's programmes in Sweden can apply for a scholarship to cover their tuition fee. There is a national scholarship programme administrated by the Swedish Institute towards specific countries.

We were tasked with the development of WIL by the Swedish government 15+ years ago and continue to lead the field today. This approach focuses on problem-based learning for industry and gives you access to real projects from partner companies and research centres.
Your courses and instructors are based in the active research of Production Technology West (PTW), internationally recognised for work in production systems and processes in the manufacturing industry.
We built your specialisation in AI and automation in close collaboration with corporate partners, who will provide you with insight and project work throughout your studies. Your training concludes with a master’s thesis you design and complete in collaboration with a company or within the PTW research group.
