Introduction
The NVQ is work-based and is designed to reflect the skills and knowledge of people who work in the engineering industry. The qualification is taken over 12-18 months, depending on each individual.
Three Mandatory Units as follows: Working safely in an engineering environment; Working efficiently and effectively in engineering; Using and communicating technical information. Also, students must complete three optional units based on the trade the student wishes to follow. These units cover areas such as producing plate work components and assemblies, wiring and testing electrical equipment, cutting and shaping materials using thermal cutting equipment - to name but a few of over 50 units to choose from. A trained assessor will work with you to decide what units will be best for each student and tailor the units to suit your requirements.
The NVQ is assessed on practical aptitude and a portfolio of work.
