Introduction
Composites and Advanced Materials Aerospace Manufacturing is a one-year graduate certificate program designed for students who have a background in engineering or aircraft structural repair. Students will engage with materials, design, and fabrication theory and practices for composites and advanced materials. Graduates will be prepared to work as technicians or technologists in manufacturing and assembly.
Your Learning Experience
In this one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate, students will engage with materials, design, and fabrication theory and practices for composites and advanced materials, including carbon, laminate, glass, and fabric reinforcement, destructive and non-destructive tensile testing techniques, and infusion and machining techniques. The curriculum will also emphasize quality assurance, safety, evaluation, and control methods.
Graduates of this program will be prepared for employment as technicians, technologists, or engineers in the areas of manufacturing, assembly, quality control/quality assurance, and destructive/non-destructive materials testing.

Program Residency
Students Must Complete a Minimum of 9 credits in this program at Fanshawe College to meet the Program Residency requirement and graduate from this program
Program Outcome
- Complete all work accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with current legislation, industry standards, corporate policies, and health and safety regulations;
- Evaluate and apply quality control and quality assurance techniques for the design, analysis, and production of composite and advanced materials components, processes, and systems;
- Analyze and solve composite and advanced materials manufacturing problems using technical mathematics and appropriate computational hardware and software;
- Interpret, prepare, and modify engineering drawings for use in composite and advanced material design and manufacturing applications;
- Manufacture, assemble, maintain, and repair composite and advanced materials components for a range of industrial applications;
- Identify, inspect, and test composite and advanced materials parts for non-conformances, investigate the source of the discrepancies and propose strategies for improving the design and/or manufacturing process to remove further non-conformances;
- Plan, implement, and evaluate composite and advanced material fabrication projects to meet employer and customer requirements for cost targets, quality, performance, and manufacturing technique;
- Maintain and manage the chemicals, materials, and equipment used in the fabrication of composites and advanced materials.
