Introduction

Family Support Studies is a unique program that has received national recognition. Many job fields, such as early childhood education, child welfare, public education, and health care, are using the principles and practices of family support to reach and serve all families.

Our program brings individuals from diverse disciplines together to study family support principles and practices to enhance knowledge and skills in working with diverse families — economically, culturally, and linguistically. It's designed for students entering the job market for the first time, as well as for those changing careers or seeking to strengthen their professional skills in work involving families.

What Will You Learn?

Coursework in Family Support Studies provides education and training to students currently working or wanting to work with individuals and communities using family support practices and principles. Courses build on the belief that families and communities are interdependent and influence the well-being of families and their dependents.
