Edinburgh College
Introduction
Edinburgh College is based in Scotland, UK and operates across four main campuses in the Edinburgh city region.
With around 26,000 student enrolments and 1,200 staff, Edinburgh College is one of the largest colleges and leading publicly-funded further education (TVET) providers in the UK. The college has developed a broad curriculum which includes Business and Administration, Early Years Education, Engineering, STEM and Construction, Creative Industries, Health and Wellbeing, Social Sciences, Tourism and Hospitality.
Edinburgh College is one of the largest year-round providers of English Language programmes in Scotland and is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK.
Additionally, Edinburgh College has achieved STEM Assured status – an independent, industry-backed validation of the quality of an institution’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics provision. To achieve this status, Edinburgh College was assessed against a robust framework to benchmark our capability to design and deliver STEM courses that keep pace with emerging technology and the evolving needs of employers.
At Edinburgh College, we believe in providing people with the skills they need for the future they want. We understand the importance of education to parents, young people and professionals seeking to progress to further study or develop their career. Our courses are designed to help you progress towards your goals.
We have courses available for every step of your journey. Whether you’re looking to improve your English language skills, gain qualifications for your first job, move on to university-level study, upskill or re-train to enhance your career options. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
International experience
Every year we welcome students from around the world to take advantage of the high-quality training and education that we offer. Students come to us for diploma courses, bespoke short courses, and for our annual English Language summer school. Many of our international students use their Edinburgh College qualifications to pathway into university study or to go straight into the workforce.
We are also increasingly working with partners overseas to train students, teachers and professionals, advise on curriculum development and to consult on, and support, the establishment of new educational institutions. We can work with partners in their home country, in Edinburgh, online, or using a variety of these methods (blended learning).
Through our international experience we have shared our knowledge and experience but also broadened our own horizons through a deeper understanding of the educational and cultural contexts in other countries.
We have experience in working internationally in the following areas:
- Transnational education partnerships and joint programmes
- Training for professionals across our curriculum areas including tourism, business, leadership and management
- Vocational training/teacher training
- English language teaching and teacher training
- Consultancy for skills and vocational training, TVET capacity building
