English for Academic Purposes

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a program designed to help students improve their U.S. academic English skills. Students entering this program already have the basics of English (or speak another variety of English). Still, they need to improve their college-level reading, writing, research, grammar, listening, and speaking skills. The EAP classes are credit courses (under the course acronym EFL) and are taught at the college level, so all assignments are authentic college writing and reading assignments even at the lowest levels. Students are also given a chance to acclimate to the cultural expectations of the college environment.
