Early Childhood Education

The Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education focuses on providing students with the knowledge, skills, and training required to prepare educators to work with young children. The National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is combined with the Spirit Lake Nation Dakota culture to ensure a well-rounded curriculum is provided to all students. Head Start and community daycares provide students with the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning activities to enhance classroom instruction. Students provide care to children while earning credits to their degree using labs and observation rooms. The result is a foundation based in Early Childhood Education theory and Dakota culture regarding the care of children.
