Introduction
The course was devised in association with various public, private, and voluntary sectors, for example, the Police, Armed Forces, Local Government, Probation, Youth Offending Teams, and the Civil Service. You will study a broad spectrum of issues relating to various public and private services and other sectors.
The course encompasses a wide range of the public and private sectors and develops the fundamental skills and attributes in any public, voluntary, or private service industry. The course team will use CRC's excellent links with relevant external agencies, for example, the Cambridge University Officers' Training Corps, Royal Marine Reserves, Army Reserves, Police Specials, County Councils for guest lectures and additional opportunities for students, thus ensuring the vocational experience is placed at the heart of this program.
For Home and EU students, a loan from the Student Loans Company is available to support learners with fees if applied for. These fees cover the course's overall costs, including sports kits, guest speakers, day trips, and additional courses that will be run throughout the year.
The course comprises the following units: Reflecture Professional Practice; International Institutions and Global Affairs; Management of an Outdoor Event; Research Project; Blue Light Collaboration; Understanding and Leading Change; Expedition Planning.
You will also be expected to undertake a comprehensive physical training regime to prepare you for a successful career in the Services fully. The course will provide you with the first-hand experience of a variety of roles in Public Services. It will be actively encouraged that all learners are engaged with either the Police Specials Constabulary, Royal Marine/RAF/Army Reserves, or similar whilst attending College. Opportunities to be involved in the development and delivery of the Level 1 – 3 Uniformed Services Course will also help you develop the skills required to lead and motivate service personnel in the future.
During your time on the course, you will have the chance to attend extra residential activities. These may include Football (Male and Female); Racket sports; Ski/snowboarding; Basketball; Netball; Cycling, Volunteering Trip (Morocco).
There is an extra cost for these activities.
Additional Qualifications - Level 3 Award in Education and Training (TBC).
This is classed as a full-time course – on successful completion of this course. You will gain a BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma. Home & EU students are eligible to apply for a full-time loan from Student Finance England.
This program is a full Level 5 qualification that can lead to enhanced employment in any Public Services such as the Police, Fire Service, and Prison Service or entry to Higher Education through a top-up degree.
To join the BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma course, you will need to show evidence that you have achieved success on a sustained level 4 study program and provide proof of certification and individual units completed.
