Introduction
This one year program is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge, and understanding that underpin the study of sport. It aims to continue their education through applied learning and want to pursue or advance their careers in sport.
The course is an eight-unit BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma, including Physical Activity, Lifestyle, and Health, The Sports Landscape, Project Management, Activity Leadership, Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology, Technology in Sport, Work Exposure.

This course requires an up-to-date DBS check to be in place, which can only be applied through college. Fees for the DBS check are set by the government and are payable to the college.
For Home and EU students, a loan from the Student Loans Company is available to support learners with fees if applied for. These fees cover the course's overall costs, including sports kits, guest speakers, and day trips.
You will be expected to take part in practical sport and coaching activities regularly throughout the course. You will be expected to gain coaching and sports development experience through the coaching and organization of some of the sports teams within the College. In addition to this, work experience placements will be offered with local employers, giving you valuable access to experienced practitioners of sports coaching and sports development as well as an opportunity to develop your own skills and knowledge.
During your time on the course, you will have the chance to attend extra residential activities. There is an extra cost for these activities.
This is classed as a full-time course – on successful completion of the first year of this course. You will gain a BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma. You can achieve a BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma by studying for a further year to complete the BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma. Home & EU students are eligible to apply for a full-time loan from Student Finance England.
The BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma program is a full Level 4 qualification that can lead to enhanced employment opportunities in teaching, coaching, and the fitness industry or entry to Higher Education through a top-up degree or the BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Sport at Cambridge Regional College.
To progress from the BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma to the BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma, you will need to complete your BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma. Progression to the BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma is conditional on group sizes being educationally and/or economically viable.
To join the BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma course, you need to have either: 2 A levels at grade A* - E, a pass at an equivalent Level 3 qualification (e.g., BTEC L3 Diploma), plus, English & Mathematics GCSE at grade 9 - 4 (or old grade A* - C) or a willingness to complete these.
