Introduction

The Hospitality Industry is the world's largest employment field. The proposal is to change from a degree program with five concentrations to one general degree program applicable to all types of Hospitality Managers or Event Managers. Upon completion of the degree, the student will seek employment in lodging operations, private clubs, cruise ships, casinos, or event planning companies.

This program offers students the opportunity to develop strong communication skills, organizational, critical-thinking skills, and practical preparation for entry into the growing hospitality career field. Job opportunities include convention and visitors bureau coordinator, hotel sales and marketing executive, hotel management or event planner, casino management, tour destination management, or cruise ship management, and event or activities, planner. Students may earn credit through CED210 at Disney World, Universal Studios Newport Historical Society, The Whaling Museum, or any theme park.
