Introduction

A new campus of Colaisde na Gàidhlig, the Gaelic College, Beinn Mhàbu, located in the heart of Mabou, Cape Breton, offers a uniquely different post-secondary learning experience. Connected with Cape Breton University, this foundation-year program focuses on life skill development through the lens of rooted Gaelic cultural learning and appreciation. With a small class size and set in a culturally-rich rural community, students learn in and outside the classroom making for a year in Mabou they'll never forget.

Gymnasium

  • Large room (1700 sq. ft.) with wooden floors and a high ceiling.
  • Seating for 100 plus (telescopic bleachers + floor seating).
  • Stage area with drop-down 200" projector screen.
  • Access to internet (fiber) and washrooms.

Dining Room

Large room (1700 sq. ft.) filled with natural light, tables, and chairs (seating for 80+ comfortably), internet (fiber), and access to washrooms.

Community Hub

Shared or exclusive use of the large room (600 sq. ft.) with desks, chairs, meeting table, sitting area, internet (fiber), and shared access to washrooms and kitchen.

Office Space

Private offices with internet access (fiber) and shared access to the kitchen, meeting areas, and washrooms.

Meeting & Training Space

Large room (900 sq. ft.) with individual desks and chairs, projector/screen, whiteboard, internet (fiber), and shared access to kitchen, meeting areas, and washrooms

    The Fr. Angus Morris Scholarship

    Beinn Mhàbu is pleased to offer the Fr. Angus Morris Scholarship for the 2023‐2024 academic year. One award with a value of $5000 is available to a student that meets the eligibility criteria below.

    Applicants must:

    • Have a minimum 80% average in senior year of high school
    • Be entering full‐time study in the program at Beinn Mhàbu

    To apply, submit:

    • A completed Fr. Angus Morris Scholarship form (click the link above to download)
    • A copy of your resume
    • A two‐page essay (1,000 words max) outlining the following:
      • Your professional goals
      • How the scholarship will assist you in achieving your goals
      • Examples of leadership in your community and/or extra‐curricular activities
      • Examples of volunteering both in high school activities and/or in your community

    Preference will be given to students who graduated from Cape Breton high school, but others are encouraged to apply. Completed applications can be sent to [email protected]
