Teacher Training Program - Faculty for foreign citizens and pre-university training (Foundation)

In 1993, the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai opened a department of Russian philology for foreigners. Over 25 years, the department has trained more than a thousand foreign citizens in the preparatory faculty, in the bachelor's and master's degrees.

In 2017, the department was renamed and became part of the faculty for foreign citizens and pre-university training (Foundation).

At the moment the staff of the department consists of 24 people. Since 2000, the department is headed by the doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor KazNPU. Abay Begalieva S.B.

The department has preparatory language groups (1 year of study), bachelor's degree (4 years of study), second higher education (2 years, distance learning), master's degree (2 years), and preparation courses for International Certification (TORFL).

Students study the history of Kazakhstan, Psychology, Pedagogy, Kazakh literature, Russian as a foreign language (levels B1 - C1), Modern Russian language, Rhetoric, Country studies in Kazakhstan, Kazakh language, Speech culture basics, Russian literature, Foreign literature, Kazakh literature, Difficult cases Russian grammar and many others. Students actively participate in the scientific and social life of the university and the department.

Many graduates of our department receive and successfully study in postgraduate studies in the Republic of Korea, Russia, work as interpreters in various organizations, teachers in embassies, engage in scientific research, and successfully defend masters and doctoral thesis.

The following students studied at the department: Ambassador of Croatia to Kazakhstan, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan, representatives of the international organization OSCE, employees of the Chinese National Oil Company, DAAD employees, Venezuela, Argentina, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Iran, Egypt, Mongolia, India, Poland, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Ghana, Nigeria, Italy, Japan.

The department of philological specialties for foreign citizens carries out:

• Training in preparatory groups with the study of the Kazakh and Russian languages (state certificate);
• Getting an education in the bachelor's degree in 6B017 - Teacher training in languages and literature (Kazakh language and literature in schools with the non-Russian language of instruction (Kazakh as a foreign language);
• Bachelor/master studies in the specialties 6B017 / 7M017 - Teacher training in languages and literature (Russian language and literature in schools with the non-Russian language of instruction (Russian as a foreign language).

The department operates the Center for the preparation of international certification TORFL.

Students live in a comfortable student dormitory.

The university provides visa support to foreign citizens.

Pre-university preparatory department

• English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history of Kazakhstan, Kazakh / Russian.

Classes are held in the state (Russian) languages as part of school educational programs.
