Program Description

Vogue Fashion Foundation Diploma

Conde Nast College

The Vogue Fashion Foundation Diploma is an intensive one-year programme that is suitable for students from a wide range of backgrounds, including school leavers, graduates of other disciplines hoping to work in fashion, or those seeking a new career path. The primary aim is to enhance students’ creative and communication skills within the context of the wider fashion industry, as well as facilitating the development of a strong portfolio with a clear professional direction.

Term 1: The first term follows the same structure as the Vogue Fashion Certificate, providing an intensive overview of the fashion industry across three key areas: Culture and Context of Fashion, Fashion Media, and Fashion Business and Marketing. The first term facilitates the development of essential professional and academic skills (such as research, analysis, and project management) that will be utilised throughout the course.

Term 2: The second term allows students to work on industry projects, set in collaboration with established fashion companies. Previous industry projects have been created in partnership with illustrious brands such as Louis Vuitton, Jaeger, Fenwick and Condé Nast titles GQ and Glamour. Each industry project includes the core elements of market research and analysis and fashion brand communication, with each brief offering the flexibility to focus on an area of personal interest. Past students have used the industry project to concentrate on a varied range of topics, including: e-commerce, visual merchandising and display, PR and events, and styling.

Term 3: In the final term all students complete an individual fashion project, concentrating fully on a specialism of their choice. In consultation with tutors, students develop a project proposal based on their main area/s of interest. The curriculum in the final term is a series of focus weeks that look at key topics introduced in terms one and two. Currently these are:

Retail & Exhibition Design Fashion Buying Fashion Photography & Styling Fashion Journalism PR & Events Fashion Entrepreneurship Ethical issues in fashion During these focus weeks, students continue to develop visual communication, software, and project management skills, as well as continuing to concentrate on career goals.

Throughout the year there are opportunities to engage in professional developing planning, with all students encouraged and supported to graduate with a CV and portfolio appropriate to their career aspirations.
