Program Description

The Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Programme is taught exclusively by ACG Education.

This Foundation Studies Programme ensures you will be prepared to study your chosen undergraduate degree at Victoria University. You will be taught the necessary English language, academic knowledge and learning skills needed to excel at your future studies.

Upon completion of the programme, you will be guaranteed a place at Victoria University. This programme is also recognized by all other New Zealand universities.

The programme offers flexibility with 6, 8 and 12-month course options (two, three or four terms), depending on your academic background and proficiency in English.

There are four starting dates per year – in January, April, July, and October. Curriculum choices include accounting, economics, marketing, tourism, communications, culture, statistics, calculus, biology, chemistry, and physics. Special courses in English for Tertiary Study and New Zealand Culture and Society prepares you for university study in New Zealand.

The ACG Pathways Campus is located in the Wellington Railway Station building in the heart of Wellington city. The campus is close to Victoria University’s Pipitea campus as well as a wide range of accommodation and public transport options.

The Victoria University of Wellington Certificate in Foundation Studies is taught by ACG New Zealand International College, a registered school, and prepares students for entry into Victoria’s undergraduate programmes.

The programme ensures students not only meet the entry requirements but are also fully prepared for the challenges of degree-level study. Subject knowledge and skills are developed, and entrepreneurial enterprise, leadership and teamwork capabilities are enhanced. Classes are delivered by caring, highly-qualified teachers in a supportive and personalized learning environment.

Intakes

The Victoria University of Wellington Certificate in Foundation Studies takes 6 to 12 months (two to four terms) to complete, depending on academic background and English level.

Fast-track 6 months (2 terms) IELTS 6.0 (a minimum of 5.0 in all bands)
Standard 8/9 months (3 terms) IELTS 5.5 (a minimum of 5.0 in all bands)
Standard Plus 1 year (4 terms) IELTS 5.0 (a minimum of 4.5 in all bands)

The academic year is divided into four terms and there are four starting dates each year. Fast-track, Standard, and Standard Plus are available at the start of each term.

Entry requirements for the Victoria University Foundation Studies Programme are:

Successful academic experience and qualifications at Year 12 (NZ) or Grade 12/11 (Asia), Senior High School 3rd/2nd year or equivalent.

For the 6-month (two-term) Fast-track programme option:

  • IELTS 6.0 (a minimum of 5.0 in all bands)
  • or equivalent at The Campbell Institute, successful completion of Campbell Direct Level 3 Foundation Stream
  • or agreed equivalent

For the 8-month (three-term) Standard programme option:

  • IELTS 5.5 or better (a minimum of 5.0 in all bands)
  • or equivalent at The Campbell Institute, successful completion of Campbell Direct Level 2 Foundation Stream
  • or other recognized equivalent

For the 12-month (four-term) Standard Plus programme option:

  • IELTS 5.0 (a minimum of 4.5 in all bands)
  • or equivalent at The Campbell Institute, successful completion of Campbell Direct Level 1 Foundation Stream
  • or other recognized equivalent.
