Master

The cost of summer courses varies from school to school. Courses at more elite colleges and universities cost considerably more than those at smaller or state schools. The cost is also dependent on the number of courses a student enrolls in.

The United States of America is a large country in North America, often referred to as the "USA", the "US", the "United States", "America", or simply "the States". American colleges are funded by "tuition" charged to the student, which is often quite expensive, very commonly reaching into the tens of thousands of dollars per year.

This course will focus on appropriate resilient design strategies by studying neighbourhoods that are being designed by differing resiliency approaches. We will do this through a study of design initiatives in New York that include architectural, landscape and planning strategies by Rebuild by Design and Department of City Planning, one focusing on architectural & landscape design, and the other focusing on local area planning. As part of the Study, we will visit and interact with faculty at the NYU, Columbia University, 100RC, Rebuild by Design and DCP. We are trying to raise funds to support students' travel and local expenses. Students may also be able to attend the AIA Conference on Blueprint for Better Cities at a discounted rate. DCP has initiated the Resilient Neighborhoods Program, under which neighbourhoods plans focus on zoning, retrofitting and adaptation of buildings. The resiliency projects by RBD include those by internationally acclaimed practices such as Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), OMA, and SCAPE, while some of the same neighbourhoods also fall under the Resilient Neighborhoods Program of the DCP. Our studies will focus on identifying areas of overlaps and/or gaps between the approaches and methods of the two institutions. This will be done through understanding the design strategies and design processes that enhance the resilience of the built fabric and also the linkages of the built environment to the community members. Through this, we will discuss the potential of such approaches in Indian cities for flood resilience, which is the central... [-]
