This program will run online for summer 2020 due to COVID-19 and we will return to Boston in 2021
Tufts Summer Institute for International Scholars program will prepare you for graduate school programs by providing focused training in writing and communication skills. During the six-week program, you will build the skills and confidence necessary for success in your graduate school or professional experience.
To apply for this program you must have:
- A completed undergraduate degree
- An intention to pursue graduate studies at a university or college
- A minimum TOEFL score of 71 (internet) or 197 (computer

The Program will be offered asynchronously with synchronous components. You will develop a 10-page graduate-level research paper on a topic of your choosing and deliver a 30-minute presentation. Students will be broken into peer groups in which they can provide and receive peer feedback on their work in addition to instructor feedback. Students will provide article presentations as well as reflective papers each week.
Academic Speaking Focus
In your class, you will develop and refine your language skills for teamwork, discussions, debates, and other verbal interactions. We tailor grammar and pronunciation instruction to meet your skill level.
Research Writing Focus
In your class, you will learn to construct a graduate-level research paper. You will meet with your writing instructor to receive individual feedback and learn to strengthen your listening, note-taking, writing, and seminar presentation skills.
