The furniture design course at IED Rio
The course balances the practical knowledge of the market with the fundamental principles of design. Each module is finalized by a project, allowing the student to test the knowledge acquired. At the end of the course, he will have in a portfolio with three diversified projects, expanding his area of future action.

To help you achieve your professional goals, the student still has the opportunity to meet the market outside Brazil, through a 40-hour International Module at the IED Italy or IED Spain venues.
The Furniture Design course is divided into one preparatory step plus three modules.
Aimed at the student, who does not have knowledge in the drawing area with digital tools. The Rhinoceros program will assist in the development of projects. This step is optional for those who already have experience.
MODULE 1 | Utopia furniture
The first module works the creative ability, free of moorings, using unusual materials, experimenting, risking, exploring forms, for creation of extraordinary objects. The focus is on encouraging innovation, developing creative ability and individual style.
MODULE 2 | Process of developing a project
The second module expands the tools needed to develop a project and approaches production processes. The work starts from a briefing. Thus, it follows the whole process of creation and development for the presentation of a project to the client. The student should use the methods and tools learned during the course. The goal is to provide the practical knowledge of all stages of a project according to the professional reality.
MODULE 3 | Design of mobile furniture
The third module addresses the tools needed to develop an author project, encourages contact with professionals in the area, both in the production process and in the mechanisms that enable the dissemination and sale of the products. It solidifies the knowledge necessary for professional practice and integration with the Market.
