This programme combines theoretical, applied, technology driven and research based approaches to equip you with advanced analytical skills, enabling you to identify opportunities for future employment and self-employment, based on the creation of new, innovative and economically viable business enterprises. Career opportunities & pathways As a graduate of this programme, you will have the skills to go onto work in strategic management, business management, corporate planning, human resources management, technology support services or continue your studies and pathway into Auckland University of Technology's Master of Business programme. Students study one course per month for 7 months. This requires a time commitment of at least 20 hours per week of study time. Students are able to have a maximum 4 weeks of holiday time during their 18 months of study. The main break is over Christmas New/Year period for 2 weeks (21 December - 1 January) and the other two weeks may be taken during the dissertation time. After the first seven months of taught papers, you will need to complete a research dissertation which takes 1200 hours. A student spending 40 hours a week on their dissertation would take around 30 weeks to complete this part of the programme. Likewise, a student spending 30 hours a week on their dissertation would expect to take 40 weeks to complete this part of the programme. Entry requirements Application criteria for the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise are as follows. Option 1: Application by Academic Qualification Applicants in this category will have: a) graduated with a degree or honours degree in any discipline from a New Zealand tertiary institution accredited to offer qualifications at this level; or b) graduated with a degree from an overseas tertiary institution, deemed by the Academic Committee to be of equivalent standing. Option 2: Special Application Notwithstanding the above application criteria, in exceptional circumstances an applicant who does not hold a prescribed tertiary qualification may be eligible for special application to the programme if he or she can demonstrate knowledge and skills equivalent to a Bachelor level graduate, and can provide evidence of relevant work experience.
