We have an international reputation for the high standard of millinery study that we offer. Many of our students on millinery courses have been national and international prize winners and have gone on to become successful professional milliners, showing work at London Fashion Week and other high profile exhibitions.

Courses are taught by industry professionals in a specialist millinery studio and our students are able to get a taste of what it’s like working as a milliner through live projects with industry. Through our links with many British milliners we can facilitate work experience opportunities for those who wish to pursue millinery as a career. We are happy to offer flexible programmes of study to meet individual student needs.

Course Overview

These new high-tech thermo plastic materials will revolutionise and change the way we create millinery. We will focus on the best three new materials, and will explore their extraordinary qualities and benefits. Learn how to block crowns, brims and make trim. Its quick and easy to use, its light and self-adhesive (no wire, stiffener or drying time needed) and the form holds its shape well. It can be sewn by hand or on a machine, painted, covered, cut with scissors and is versatile.

The opportunities are endless, they lend themselves well to all forms of millinery from top hats to sculptural light weight headpieces as well as traditional crown & brim hats. They are also fantastic for theatrical millinery and props. There is a thermoplastic for all applications so choosing the right one is critical. Thermoplastics can reduce time and materials and increase profit.

Please bring: large household scissors, plastic apron (optional) a heat gun (if you already have one), Material to cover and line the thermo plastic (stretch is best ) Bias binding, Silicone spotted gardening gloves (tight fitting) or rubber and blocking pins and/or ties (if you already have them).
