This course is perfect for anyone who would like to work in digital media. We’ll show you how to reach your audience by developing your skills across an exciting range of productions including music videos, video adverts, short films, promos, podcasts, vlogs and digital studio skills
Our students have worked on real life production briefs for promoters at venues such as: the Town Hall, Symphony Hall, The Hippodrome, The Rep, O2, The Mill, The Crossing and others.
It will give you a broad understanding of the practical aspects of media production and visual communication and help you to develop a broad range of skills. You will be able to explore digital visual communication through practical projects.
This is a highly practical, creative and advanced course. It is aimed at developing skills in media production and industrial practices for creative individuals with an interest in the media, who enjoy the idea of making their own products, whether this be a film, music video or news story.
You will learn camera operation, digital video editing, photography, page layout and design, audio production and presentation techniques. You will get experience of using a radio station, as well as other exciting digital software such as a green screen. As well as gaining an insight into the various employment opportunities in the media sector and developing the fundamental skills underlying all media production, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in the particular areas that you are most interested in, for example production management.
In addition to the course we offer students enrichment activities such as becoming a member of ‘The Student Crew’. You will be taught by a range of staff who offer both industry skills and academic experience. Our staff have worked in radio production, TV and film production, club event promotion, music production and podcasting.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, one of which must be English language or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma (Merit or Distinction) together with a Level 4 in English language.
All applicants must have a suitable, positive references.
Where can I progress to next?
On successful completion of this course, you can progress onto the HND in Media Production Moving Image at the college, or complete a university course in media production, film studies or journalism. You could also seek employment in the media industry or start an internship or apprenticeship with a media company.
