The following Art & Design Courses are for students wishing to undertake a substantial programme of study in one of the above disciplines. When applying, students need to select which specialist area they wish to study.

Whatever you choose; Pottery, Sculptural Ceramics, Jewellery, Silversmithing, Interior Design, Multimedia, Stained or Kiln-formed Glass, you will find our courses challenging and empowering. We will help you start at the level of course that is right for you and enable you to progress onto the next stage and into work or higher education. On all courses, projects are designed to mirror the industry and take you through the design process while you develop a high level of skill and professional practice. Exhibitions, held at various stages of the year, give the opportunity for students to show their work in a public context.

Specialist workshops are fully equipped with machinery, tools and materials appropriate to the subject area. You will also be able to buy essential tools and materials from the College.

Course Overview

This course is for 16-18-year-olds with little, or no, previous experience of Art and Design but want to start progressing towards a future career in the Creative sector. You will develop a range of vocational skills in an exciting range of subject areas, along with functional skills English and Maths.

You will learn how to prepare design ideas and develop them into finished products (both 2D and 3D).

Successful students will have the opportunity to progress to a range of pathways at L2 in Digital Multimedia, Graphic Design, Interior Design or 3D.

The course includes a wide range of art and design skills: drawing, ceramics, glass, and metalwork studio practices, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and more

Delivery & Assessment methods

Assessment is 100% coursework with regular verbal and written feedback. You will produce practical work with technical notes, evidence folders, sketchbooks and a final portfolio of work with which to apply to the next course Level.
