Jewellery Beginner Setting Techniques

Program Description

During this course in setting, you will be introduced to a range of stone setting techniques and skills. You will gain an understanding of the wide range of setting processes and styles available to jewelers and have the opportunity to produce a pair of set earrings from start to finish.

Description:

  • Setting theory
  • Grain setting
  • Pave setting
  • Prong setting
  • Rub-over setting
  • Introduction to gemmology

Level: Intermediate

Entry Requirements:

  • Have beginner jewelry manufacturing skills or
  • Have completed the summer course “Jewellery Manufacturing for Beginners”

Materials to bring to the course:

  • Sketchbook
  • Pencils
  • Eraser

Dress code:

  • Hairband (if you have long hair)
  • Sensible footwear (no open toe sandals)
  • Sensible clothing (no skirts or dresses, clothing to protect your skin in the workshop)

Course Dates: August 6 – 10, 2018,10:00 – 17:00

Course Fee:£600 – new learners

Qualification

Successful completion of this course earns the student a British Academy of Jewellery Official Certificate of Completion.
