Introduction to Thinking Design - Past and Present
In the first module will be presented the fundamental aspects of the knowledge of design in an approach to the past and the present. A broader perspective will be presented, that is, the knowledge about the way of thinking and the processes of the designers. At the end of the day the participants will be divided into groups and will have a practical challenge to solve by creating a group mural on Trello.
Design as context and framing of the problem
Module number two deepens the understanding of the previous module, emphasizing the systemic nature of design and what it requires of design processes. The challenge proposed in the previous module will be followed up by contextualizing the problem and the different ways in which it influences the design process.
Design Models and Processes
After understanding the holistic nature of Design Thinking, module number three describes the different models that help structure the design process through research methods, prototypes, and tests. In the second part of the module, the most common methods of observation and participation will be addressed, such as the customer journey method, participative methods and qualitative analysis. It will also introduce the ideation, remembering that the different frameworks and contexts of the design problem should combine the knowledge of different areas.
Design as Externalization and Experimentation
In module number four we will continue to build the group work. After the idea is conceived, the groups will complete the design exercise, create sketches and models, and discuss them, to come to a common conclusion. Finally, the groups will make decisions about the most appropriate means to build the final project.
Creation of the Final Project
On the final day, the groups will finish their final projects (applying all the concepts, practices and methods acquired throughout the course) and will be challenged to present their work, discussing ideas and new ways of developing creative thinking.
