Hospitality Management – Hotel and Resort at Centennial College is designed for students intending to pursue a management career in the hospitality industry.

 Through theory and practical application, this program will provide you with an understanding of the interrelationships between departments that drive performance in the hotel and resort industry. Additionally, you will spend the final semester of this School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culture program in an industry field placement. This opportunity has seen many students successfully transition directly from their placement to paid employment.

Program Highlights

As a graduate of this offering, you will be prepared to:

  • Ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction by providing hospitality services in a professional manner;
  • Perform effectively as a team member of accommodation operations or food and beverage preparation and services;
  • Provide quality food and beverage planning, preparation and presentation for a variety of hospitality environments;
  • Apply human resources, management and leadership knowledge and skills to enhance your performance as an employee and team member, and to contribute to the management of a hospitality enterprise;
  • Apply basic cost control, revenue management and principles of financial planning, analysis and control to assist in making decisions at an operational level and to contribute to the achievement of financial plans of hospitality enterprise;
  • Contribute to marketing and sales effectiveness to promote successful operation of a hospitality enterprise;
  • Identify the various Canadian tourism industry sectors and analyze their interdependence;
  • Support the provision of healthy, safe and well-maintained hospitality environments;
  • Recognize and adapt to various and changing technologies, systems and computer applications for the hospitality industry;
  • Expand and integrate hospitality experience, skills and knowledge to enhance job performance and future employability;
  • Develop ongoing personal professional development strategies and plans to achieve realistic career goals and to enhance leadership and management skills for the hospitality environment.

Academic Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
  • English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission
