Program Description

Programme Aims

This programme aims to prepare students with the necessary professional knowledge and skills to pursue their careers in the hotel and catering industry. The programme focuses on both theory and practical training. Through simulated working environments and industrial attachment, students can acquire relevant technical competence and professional knowledge of the industry.

This programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and work experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.

  • Culinary Fundamentals and Practices
  • Information Technology Essentials – Hospitality

  • Customer Service Fundamentals
  • Law & Ethics for the Hospitality Industry
  • Foundation Food and Beverage Service Menu Operations
  • Food Hygiene and Safety
  • Wine and Spirits Studies
  • Front Office Operations
  • Contemporary Issues in the Hotel Industry (To be conducted during Semester 1-5)
  • English & Communication: Workplace Correspondence
  • Vocational Chinese Communication: Putonghua Conversation and Reports

Semester 3

Semester 5

Industrial Attachment: Students of this programme will normally have their industrial placement at food and beverage related establishments. Relevant work may involve shift duties and may take place during evenings, weekends or holidays.


Career Prospects

Graduates can start their careers at entry level in the hotel and catering industry. After accumulating further operational experiences, they can be promoted to supervisory or middle management positions, such as Front Office Manager, Executive Housekeeper, Reservations Manager, Food and Beverage Manager, Banquet Sales and Service Manager, etc.


General Entrance Requirements

Graduate from senior secondary school with proven English language proficiency, eg. IELTS at 5.0 or equivalent.
