HNC/HND Fashion and Textiles

Our HNC/HND in Fashion and Textiles is designed to equip you with a wide range of creative and technical skills which will allow you to work as a fashion or textile designer within the industry. The HND builds upon on the skills you have learned throughout your HNC, you will be encouraged to expand your own practice and find your own voice. Studying fashion in the hub of London will allow you to make use of the surrounding cultural facilities in order to inspire and develop your work.

These programmes will allow you to experience and develop your knowledge of the fashion textile design process, within the context of a professional studio setting. These courses will provide opportunities to develop your personal vision and ideas while exploring areas of specific interest to you.

You will be encouraged to develop your own practice, with on-going guidance throughout the course. Students benefit from combining practical skills, drawing and design development and the awareness of its application within the creative industries. The skills you learn which will be applicable to a variety of creative career pathways.

Course Requirements

Higher National Certificates (1 Year)
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Four or five GCSEs (Grades A*-C, (4) or above) or Level 2 qualification equivalent
  • Typically, two A-levels (D or above), BTEC National Diploma or any NARIC recognised equivalence. Every application is considered on an individual basis.
  • English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with minimum 5.0 for each component) or equivalent (CEFR Level B2)
  • Mature applicants: (over 21) are considered subject to satisfactory literacy and numeracy, work experience (if applicable). All applicants will be required to attend an interview and complete a creativity task.
  • *This course will only run if there is a sufficient level of interest to ensure a satisfactory student experience and outcome.
Higher National Diplomas (1 Year)
  • Minimum age: 18
