Program Description

Do you want to study for a graduate degree in the United States but need to improve English language skills or test scores? A Pathway program provides academic, language and cultural support in order to succeed at a US university. Students are guaranteed progression to a graduate degree program through curriculum consisting of credit-earning courses. We provide full integration with domestic and international students on campus from highly trained university instructors and tutors while giving you academic support throughout the program.

Students who successfully complete an INTO SLU 2-Semester and 1-Semester Graduate Pathway program in computer and information science are assured progression to a SLU graduate degree program upon submission of additional required application materials.

NOTE: This program can be completed in 12 months including the Pathway program.

*Students may take other CIS graduate courses offered that semester in lieu of the courses listed, subject to the constraint that at least 21 credit hours must be taken at the 600 level. No more than 9 credit hours can be taken at the 500 level. In addition, CS510 cannot be taken for MS credit if CS610 has already been taken; similarly CS520 cannot be taken after CS620, and CS550 cannot be taken after CS650.

What are the progression requirements?

After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter the graduate degree program. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression. You must meet the following SLU's Pathway Progression criteria in order to progress:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in graduate level courses
  • B or better in all courses
  • No grades I or W permitted

What are my degree options after completing the INTO Pathway?

You are guaranteed admission to the Master of Science in Computer and Information Science program at SLU after successfully completing the Graduate Pathway and meeting all progression requirements.

Age: 17 years old and above

Academic: 4-year undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics or related field with a 2.5 GPA

English language:

2-Semester Pathway: TOEFL iBT 65 or IELTS 5.5 or PTEA 44 or completion of Academic English Level 4 or Password overall Level 6

1-Semester Pathway: TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.5 or PTEA 53
