Our popular General English Courses are ideal if you want to improve your everyday communication skills and you prefer to study in a class with other students. Small classes and well-trained teachers guarantee fast progress. The course content includes grammar, lexis and all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
You can combine the morning group course with an afternoon group course for faster progress or with private lessons to focus on personal goals.
For German citizens only: our GE30 Course is registered for Bildungsurlaub in Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Sachsen-Anhalt and Hessen.
You can choose between 16 morning lessons, which take place Monday to Thursday (GE16), and 20 morning lessons, which take place Monday to Friday (GE20).
In the morning lessons, you can expect to:
- Practice your reading and listening skills.
- Develop your vocabulary and grammar, so that you can communicate more effectively and accurately.
- Practice speaking and writing.
- Use English to exchange ideas with people from other countries.
The morning lessons are based around a coursebook and are adapted to the unique needs of each class.
You can either combine GE16 with afternoon lessons (GE26) or GE20 with afternoon lessons (GE30).
The afternoon lessons (Skills Focus) are focussed mainly on developing speaking skills, but the lessons are usually based around a listening or reading text, and new vocabulary is often introduced to help the students to communicate more effectively. The topics depend on the interests of the class but often include South African culture and history as well as current international issues. The lessons may include outings to local cultural sights and South African videos or songs.
This course is provided at 7 levels.
You can combine GE 16 and GE 20 with 5 or 10 private lessons in the afternoon.
Homework is given in morning classes 3 to 4 times per week.
