Students entering this course can talk about family, life history and daily routines, but they may use language incorrectly and sometimes be difficult to understand. This level aims to build up the students' confidence in their English; by the end, they should be able to have a simple conversation about their daily lives, countries and goals.Study English in London
Students entering this level should be able to talk about events in the past, present and future although they will not always be able to use tenses correctly. The aim of this course is to help students to express themselves more fully and clearly. They should be able to express a wider range of feelings and attitudes, and listeners should be able to understand them without great difficulty. It also aims to develop comprehension skills and vocabulary so that students will be able to understand the gist of TV/newspapers etc.
Students entering an Intermediate class can talk about situations in the past, the present and the future. They should be able to deal confidently with most social situations. This level sets out to help students to improve their accuracy and start using a wider range of language forms. By the end of this level students will able to use language more appropriately.
Students at this level should be familiar with grammar and pronunciation that will allow them to express notions of a hypothetical as well as a concrete nature, using structures which are appropriate rather than resorting to paraphrasing. Students should also be able to cope with authentic texts, though will have difficulties with more abstract readings and listening. Students should continue to develop their writing skills.
Students at this level aim to improve general language skills. Their expression should be clear and intelligent, and their functional language should allow them to conduct conversation fairly naturally. Their vocabulary should be sufficient to read newspapers and understand most television programmes that are not too culturally biased and colloquial. At this level, most of the language covered will not be new. The areas covered tend to be in the form of revision, recycling or extension but are dealt with at a higher level of complexity or sophistication.
