After secondary school, some students find they aren’t ready to enter a program of collegiate study. For those students, foundation year programs are a beneficial option. These programs bridge the gap between secondary study and university study to help students be more successful in future academic endeavors.
What is a foundation year in sport? These programs generally prepare students for advanced studies by introducing them to subject matter they may encounter in the future. Many programs give students the option to choose either business strategy related to sports or the physical elements of sport. Coursework in business strategy may cover topics such as physiotherapy, biomechanics or biochemistry. For the former, coursework may focus on sports marketing, coaching and sports management.
The benefits of a foundation year in sport are not confined to the classroom. In addition to the improved multitasking skills that develop through responding to rigorous program demands, students often grow an awareness of physical fitness and hone their interpersonal communication skills.
The cost of enrolling in a foundation year in sport can vary because of several factors. Prospective scholars should make efforts to speak to the admissions representatives at various institutions to make sure that the cost of attendance is feasible.
After having completed a foundation year in sport, students may be prepared to pursue several different advanced degree options, including education and leadership, kinesiology and sports facilities management. Completing these degree programs may help students gain careers as coaches in professional sports organizations or as physical therapists. Other job titles include athletic director, facilities manager, sports director, marketing director for sports and communication, and even sports writer.
Engaging in a foundation year in sport can put scholars on the track to academic and career success. For more information, search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.
