A foundation year acts as the groundwork for further education, helping students build the important skills they need for higher education. Most foundation year programs only take one year to complete.
What is a foundation year in psychology? It is a foundation program designed for beginning students who may be interested in learning more about the field of psychology. Many universities offer courses such as introduction to psychology, language skills, study skills and principles of time management to give students a basic understanding of the field while also preparing them for an undergraduate degree program. The curriculum may incorporate seminars, lectures and workshops to help participants get the most out of the learning experience.
Many scholars find a foundation year is beneficial because it gives them the basic tools required to succeed at a university level. Participants may also build skills that can help them in their personal and professional lives beyond school. They typically improve their ability to communicate, analyze and listen.
Schools around the world offer foundation year programs, so it is no surprise that there is a wide range of costs. Tuition often depends on location, subject, duration and class type. Applicants may be able to get more information by contacting a school directly.
Studying psychology at a beginner level can give scholars the foundation needed to have a successful career in the field. Students who have started out in a foundation year in psychology program have gone onto become occupational psychologists, forensic psychologists, career advisers, school counselors, psychotherapists, life coaches and human resource officers. The exact career possibilities available depend on the students’ other education and experience.
