Sometimes, your high school credentials or A-Levels don’t quite match your intended course of study. A foundation year is an extra year of higher education instruction that allows students to close any educational gaps and gain an introduction to their professional and academic field.

What is a foundation year in management? A foundation year in management is an introduction course to successfully managing businesses and corporate enterprises. Scholars gain more familiarity with what makes a well-run enterprise and how to avoid common mistakes. Other course work might include consumer behavior, market analysis and corporate strategies. Overall, students will begin to understand various business models and their applications.

A foundation year in management introduces students to a business mindset and shows them how to effectively analyze an enterprises progress. This gives them an advantage when they begin working on their degree coursework.

The total cost of a foundation year will depend on the education institution and type of course. In-person instruction is sometimes necessary but is generally more expensive. Scholars often cut costs with online-based coursework.

Once a scholar receives the foundation year diploma, he or she will typically move on to a fully-fledged degree program in the same subject. After completing their degree, graduates are qualified for a range of positions in the business sector including project overseers, department mangers, executive assistants and other similar posts. Additionally, many scholars look to advertising and marketing agencies for employment in management capacities.
